Weddings
Since opening in June 2015, the new Village Hall at Norbury has been a popular venue for wedding celebrations and other special occasions, both with locals and those from further afield. The modern design of the building, with its light, open and flexible space can be configured to suit both small and medium sized receptions – comfortably accommodating up to 120 seated dinner guests for a Wedding Breakfast, and 200 people in a less formal arrangement (with some standing) for an Evening Buffet Reception (including space for a live band, DJ and dancing). The bright, modern feel of the building provides a neutral backdrop for both traditional or more individually themed wedding receptions – It’s always amazing to see the hall transformed for such occasions, including the outside space. From the South facing wall of glass doors, guests can spill out onto the terrace with views across to the Long Mynd and beautiful South Shropshire countryside – a great spot for pre-dinner drinks and photos. The field to the front of the hall can accommodate marquees (if more entertaining space is required), outside games, or indeed just act as an overflow car-park if ground conditions allow.
Our standard Wedding Package includes exclusive use of the hall and grounds over the weekend – i.e. Friday for setting-up, Saturday for the big day, and Sunday morning for clearing-up. It may be possible to extend either side of this (at additional cost) although this will depend on any scheduled regular user groups. Please see our Fees page for pricing.
Full use of the kitchen and bar equipment, crockery and glasses are included in the fee. We also have 140 comfy, upholstered dining chairs which you are welcome to dress-up with your own covers and sashes, and 30 assorted rectangular tables at your disposal too – although you may wish to organise your own furniture and table-wear through your Caterer or Bar Contractor. Use of the hall’s AV system which includes speakers, projector and hearing-loop is also included in the Wedding Package, which may be useful for the dinner speeches or even running a slide show in the background. A short training session will be required before use.

We don’t currently hold a licence for wedding ceremonies, although we do review this from time to time. As much as we love weddings, as rural village hall serving the local community, we’re mindful that we strike a balance with regards to its availability at weekends.
