We have achieved much in our first twelve months and the Village Hall at Norbury is now becoming increasingly popular – so much so that it is now necessary to book well in advance, so if you’re planning to celebrate a special occasion – perhaps a wedding, christening or birthday, we recommend that you make your booking as soon as possible, even for 2017.
Major events celebrated in our new hall since the Management Committee took it over from the builders in June, 2015, have included our Grand Opening attended by all ages from across the parishes. Further major events were a fundraising evening for Myndtown Church and a most successful evening hosted by Norbury School with the Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir.
There have been many private events over the year encompassing several weddings, birthday parties for both adults and children, a Hunt Ball, Church Services and anniversary dinners, etc.
Regular bookings include Mothers and Toddlers, Table Tennis, Women’s Institute, Norbury School – Brew with a View, Parish Council, Talk Time and Onny Valley Social Club.
Feedback from our users is very positive and this is largely down to the commitment shown by our Project Managers (Balfours) and our builders (R.E. Brown Ltd). Sadly, as many of you will know our builders went into liquidation early this year. Fortunately, they had all but completed the “snagging” schedule with the exception of the Hearing Loop, which is in hand.
Outside works left unfinished at time of handover, in particular the Car Park and outside lighting have now been completed, thanks to generous donations and the hard work of Tony Corfield moving tons of soil and tons of gravel.
Recently the Management Committee thanked Rev. Norman Morris for his leadership over the past sixteen years and we welcome our new Chairman, Nigel Hirst who will take us forward.
